John Henegan

With more than 35 years of experience, John C. Henegan Sr. has successfully briefed and argued numerous appeals and appeared as counsel for amici curiae in different federal and state appellate courts.  He has also served as first chair trying cases to verdict in jury and bench trials in federal and state courts of Mississippi.

John is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and his work has been recognized in five different subject areas by The Best Lawyers in America® and in Chambers USA and Mid-South Super Lawyers®. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers and served in 1981-1984 as Chief of Staff to Honorable William F. Winter, Governor of Mississippi, and as law clerk in 1976-1977 to Honorable Charles Clark, Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He has published legal articles for books, magazines, and law reviews which have been cited in appellate court decisions.    

He obtained his J.D. with honors in 1976 from the University of Mississippi Law School where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Mississippi Law Journal.  John is admitted to the State Bars of Mississippi and New York (inactive), all trial and appellate courts of Mississippi, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi and the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eleventh, and Federal Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
