Anita Modak-Truran is an experienced trial attorney, having tried more than 100 cases in federal and state courts and an experienced appellate advocate, having argued before Judge Richard Posner and others. Her practice includes intellectual property litigation and counseling, drug and device litigation and commercial litigation. Additionally, Anita works on a wide variety of business and litigation matters in the entertainment and media industry. Among others, she has represented motion picture and television companies, television stations, newspapers, record labels, music companies and talent.
Anita is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and her work has been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers®. She has served in leadership positions for the Trial Attorneys of America, Litigation Counsel of America, Defense Research Institute, Mid-South Intellectual Property Institute Advisory Board and other prominent legal associations. She is a frequent presenter, panelist and moderator, as well as an adjunct law professor. She served as Chief Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago from 1997 to 1998.
Anita obtained her J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago and is admitted to the State Bars of Illinois, Mississippi and Tennessee, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, both Districts of Mississippi, the Middle District of Tennessee, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Seventh Circuits, the U.S. Supreme Court and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians Tribal Courts.
